Hello,
after a minor pause ;-) we are working on the next version of FRD. It brings many improvements and bug fixes include a support of upcoming Java 9. Also a startup time has been tuned and improved.
We hope we collected all main problems you have with using FRD and changed it.

Please let us know about problems you find in comparison with previous version (0.9u4). Thank you.

  Behavioral changes:
  *Remove completed downloads*
  - In previous version: remove completed downloads (At startup or Immediately) only hides the completed downloads.
    So if the option is changed to "Never", the previous completed downloads will be shown again.
  - Current version: remove completed downloads (At startup or Immediately) actually removes the completed downloads.
    So if the option is changed to "Never", the previous completed downloads will not be shown,
    only the current and the future completed downloads are shown.
  All completed downloads still can be accessed via "Download History" window.
  Reason: the previous version's implementation sometimes produced inconsistence download item's list ordering.

 *Use temporary .part files while downloading*
  - creating .part files is disabled by default

I can't download anything after 5 years of no problems (no replies)

After five years of having no problems I am now faced with the problem of not being able to download anything. So far I have removed all of the Java stuff and then loaded up the latest version. I deleted the FreeReapid folder -(not from control panel as it does not register there) and then reloaded the programme from the zipped file. Still no luck. I deleted the folder again, downloaded the new Beta and ran that. It copied all the settings from somewhere and that does not work either. I have only tried a couple of sites including the BBC and it tells me that it cannot download fron the site, it can't connect to the site or some other reason. Does anyone have any ideas [I am not familiar with computerspeak so nothing technical if possible].

používám více monitorů (pro příklad je nazvu "A" a "B"). Pokud spustím FRD, otevře se mi na monitoru B a všechno funguje normálně, FRD monitoruje schránku a pokud se v ní objeví odkaz na stažení, zobrazí okno Přidání nových URL. Pokud však přetáhnu okno na monitor A, přestane se okno Přidání nových URL při stisku CTRL+C objevovat. FRD stahuje dál, ale nejde přidat nový odkaz ani se neobrazí například okno Možnosti. Pokud na volbu Možnosti v menu kliknu, FRD sice stahuje dál, ale přestane reagovat na myš (nejde nic vybrat ani přetáhnout nebo třeba změnit velikost okna). Jediné co pomůže je vypnout monitor A, tím se okno FRD přesune zpět na monitor B a volba Přidání nových URL se objeví. Možná, že už to tu bylo, ale nemohu to najít.

All of a sudden my downloader stopped loading. :-(
It says Fatal error. This is unexpected error, which can lead to application instability. An application restart may help. Please report this error to the authors.
I have restarted the computer, tried the new beta and I don't want to
lose the information and the finished download items, so that I don't try to download the same thing more than once.
The frd.odb is still there, but it is quite large and the links.txt
Hope you can help me get my database readable again.

Dobrý den,

aktualizace pluginů je nefunkční. Software vypíše hlášení, že se nelze spojit se serverem.

Kde je chyba?

Zdravím,

Downloader se náhodně zastavuje a jede zavřít. Jediné řešení je shodit javu přes správce úloh. Opětovné spuštění opět zmrzne po cca 1s. Nutný je restart PC. Pokud je skovaný v liště. Obnoví se jen minimální okno, výřez horní lišty frd s tl. minimalizovat, max a close. Zavřit to nejde, opět jen shodit javu. Dragnout a hýbat s tím jde. Dělalo to jak 0.94 tak i Beta 1.0. Někdy to jede pár hodin, někdy zmrzne za pár minut. Kompatibility módy nepomohly, nevíte co s tím ?

Zdravím,

v průběhu stahování jsem chtěl navýšit v nastavení počet souběžných stahování, po potvrzení této volby zůstávaly všechny nově přidané odkazy ve stavu "VE FRONTĚ", poté co se jeden ze stahovaných souborů dostahoval a nezačakl se stahovat žádný další soubor, se mi to začalo zdáti divné a program jsem vypnul a opětovně spustil, následně už všechny soubory, které se měli stahovat byly ve stavu "VE FRONTĚ" a to i ty, které před restartem byly v průběhu stahování. Pokoušel jsem se nastavení vrátit zpátky, avšak problém stále přetrvává.

Prosím poraďte.

as i briefly said, updates for both new versions and plugins are not working. and i can't download from youtube and other sites :-(
i get errors: connection error-refused to connect
UPDATE: i'm sorry this was a fool of me, i accidently played with proxy earlier, then i hadn't turned it back

Trouble running with Java 9 (4 replies)

FRD doesn't launch with Java 9 using the frd.exe file with error saying it requires Java runtime 1.6. Oracle Java 9 is installed and present in PATH.

When I run it from command line, I get a main window. FRD then throws exceptions when updating plugins because of missing java.xml.bind - module must be added by using command line arguments, as it is not default in Java 9:
--add-module java.xml.bind

When adding files to download, it throws exception java.lang.ClassCastException: java.desktop/javax.swing.text.AbstractDocument$DefaultDocumentEventUndoableWrapper cannot be cast to java.desktop/javax.swing.text.AbstractDocument$DefaultDocumentEvent

On installation, I'm getting the "“FreeRapid” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash." error. I've followed these instructions. The issue is on the new OS, there isn't an option to open it anyway. Only to Cancel or Move to Trash. Any suggestions?

ever since the last Java update , I cannot download anything.This message is what I get in "Est.Time" column.I did a bit of looking in FreeRapid Downloader 0.9u4 and it seem something to do with java.
Any fix? walkaround???
